Location
Megalochori lies in the south-western part of the island. The centre of the village is picturesque with its blue-domed churches and narrow streets winding through neighbourhoods with traditional Cycladic houses, local shops and a beautiful square with colourful flowers surrounded by amazing restaurants.
It is also known for its vineyards and is world famous for its magnificent wine. In fact, the owner’s brother has the oldest winery in the village, ‘Gavalas Winery’, which is in the centre of the village next to the square. It is open every day and offers tours in the winery and wine tasting. In late August, the guests of Aspronisi Luxury Villa have the opportunity to participate in the wine-making and traditional grape stomping process.
At a short distance from Aspronisi Luxury Villa, guests can visit the beach of ‘Christ of Athermi’, which up until 1963 was home to functioning hot springs. A small beach at the caldera that can only be accessed on foot.
